Arland Andreasen Obituary

Arland M. Andreasen Sr. MARIANNA - Arland M. Andreasen Sr., 90, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at Jackson Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Marianna, with the Rev. Michael Petty officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel (850-482-2332). Arland was born in Euling, Neb., Feb. 14, 1916. His family moved to Jackson County when he was 18 months old, and he has lived most of his life on a farm just north of Marianna. He was employed for 45 years as a salesman and later sales manager by Harrison Chevrolet Company, now Rahal-Miller, retiring in 1981. He served four years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna. He served as chairman of the Welfare Board of the state of Florida. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club for many years. He was a charter member and board member of Crimestoppers. He was a charter member of the Jackson County Cattlemen's Association, where he was a member for 37 years, serving as president in 1963-64. He was a member of the Marianna Elks Club for more than 62 years and was past exalted ruler. He is survived by two sons, Andy Andreasen (wife Jenny); Allan Andreasen (wife Andrea); four grandchildren; a nephew, Elton Andreasen of Marianna; and a niece, Sue Davis of Tallahassee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary "Polly" Brown Andreasen; his parents, Louise and A.M. Andreasen of Greenwood; and two brothers, Guy Andreasen of Chipley and Vernon Andreasen of Marianna.
