My dear Freda and family,

I had no idea when I heard a Pvt King had died in battle, that was our Brandon. Thank God for you meeting up with Joyce Hunter last weekend and getting in touch with me.

May God continue to have mercy on you all.

Having myself experienced great loss last year, with the death of my elder brother, Larry Johnson, on his birthday, September 28, 2011, I too feel the pain of loss; you have my heartfelt prayers and sympathy.

Please meditate on I Thessalonians 4:13-18; it has brought me much comfort.

The Coming of the Lord
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Love & Blessings to you,

Just saw a post naming some fallen soldiers, and I picked your son and "googled" him and it took me here. I wanted to put a face with his name, and write a note of condolence to all his loved ones. I thank God every day that I have not had to live with the pain of losing a son...I could not imagine it and my heart breaks for those who have that burden to bear. I am comforted knowing that people, even complete strangers, care about sacrifices made by others, and I hope this note brings a small measure of comfort to you. Thank you for trying to help in a time of need, Brandon. Looks down on your loved ones with pride.

Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. I have many memories but few words to describe our friendship and what we shared over the years. It has taken me a while to say this or anything at all, so I'm just going to say that I know you are with God and the rest of our brothers and sisters in Heaven. We will hold it down, here on Earth, until we meet again...I know we will meet again. Thank you for your service and everyone else in our military.

God Bless You,Brandon King, I trouble not myself about the manner of future existence. I content myself with believing, even to positive conviction, that the power that gave me existence is able to continue it, in any form and manner he pleases, either with or without this body; and it appears more probable to me that I shall continue to exist hereafter than that I should have had existence, as I now have, before that existence began.

Dude you missed honor grad by like less than a percent if I remember right. You were like number 2 or 3 in the class. God that was fun. Well man...I guess this is see ya later and goodbye...Want you to know that I'm doing good still man, I've got my head up. keep it real brandon. peace out -- Your friend always.

July 27, 2010

To the family of Brandon - My prayer is that this poem I wrote will comfort you. It is: FALLEN HEROES - From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best. Since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. Now I'm serving others including saints of old. I know some still have anger about the way I died yet God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried. He is a God of comfort whose love will never cease. Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace. As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge. Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge. Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise the Lord will reunite us together in the skies. So don't give up my friends my memory is still alive. Put your trust in the Lord and I know you will survive.
Thank you Brandon for your service.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Pvt. King and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Pvt. King has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of Pvt. King, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Pvt. King was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never, ever forget their sacrifices."

Pvt. King the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall forever wave in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Brandon will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salut.e” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms Pvt. Brandon King. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Brandon. And to Brandon it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Brandon, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,335 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Brandon’s family and loved ones.
