After all these years, I still remember the funeral service and the Easter basket story as told by Casie. I recalled this on my FB page today. And, as in the church, virtual FB was in tears. I will always miss Carmen.

Dear Yvette, Jeff, Alan, Mac, Cody, and Casey,
May I say that your daughter, sister, wife, and mom was a friend like no other? She lived life every day to the fullest and gave others a sense of purpose. Carmen was not afraid to express herself and had a way of making all feel that they were important. Her laughter was contagious, as was her sense of humor.
I shared many of my first experiences with Carmen. First bagel, lox, cream cheese,(remember that, Yvette, Alan, JEff) first trip to Disney, first passover, first Bar mitzvah,(Alan's and Jeff's) first time to hear Elton John, are just a few. If it were not for Carmen I would not have met Randy.
Carmen helped to shape me into who I am today. I am grateful to her and her memory will forever stay in my heart. I loved her and will continue to love her....Richest blessings to you all. Sylvia

Mac, Cody, and Casie:

Apologies for this late response. I was shocked when I heard the news about Carmen from my mother Maria today. I still remember you guys flying my parents up to Lawrence, MA on the spur of the moment to see my brother and I many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Mac, Cody and Casie:
My heart goes out to all of you on this Valentine's Day. I know your hearts are aching as are all of ours who knew and loved Carmen. She brought so much love to eveyone. All of us who knew her and loved her are better people because we were touched by her love. She truly was an angel among us.

Know you are in my thoughts and prayers every day as you deal with the difficult days ahead. Love to all of you.

Dear Langston and Lew Family,

Our deepest sympathy on Carmen's demise, we are grieving with you. We all loved Carmen very much. Carmen was my best friend when we were ages 11-18. Carmen's Birthday was Jan, 28th 1952 and mine is Jan. 29th, 1952 . Although we have lost touch over the years, every year on her birthday I would remember what great times we had together. In 1970 I married Frank Bartsch and Carmen was my bridesmaid. Back in 1962 Carmen's Mom, Dad, and brothers would come from their Park Street House in town, to the Lew family beach house every July and stay all month. Luckily I lived across the alley on Gulf Blvd. Actually our grandparents were neighbors since 1946. Carmen's dad Ross played ball in the alley with my grandfather, when he was a teenager. When I first met Carmen we were between the ages of 11-15. We would have a slumber party every night. Ross and Yvette would let Carmen have the bedroom off the main house. This bedroom had it's own entrance to the outside, to us it was like having our own apartment. We had such innocent fun. We lived in our bathing suits, we would swim and walk up and down El Centro and gulf blvd. from sunup to sunset. We played on the steps of the Don CeSar, and would ride the elevator to the canteen to buy some candy. We cooked grilled cheese sandwitches and drank alot of grape juice. Many times Yvette's parents, the Robinson's, took Carmen and I to church. Carmen had a great sense of humor and was full of laughter. Carmen had beautiful shoulder length blonde hair, a Meg Ryan look alike. She was so petite and skinny, we would kid her about her wrinkley feet and hands. Through the years up until the 9th grade, I would help Carmen babysit her brothers, Jeff and Alan, boy they were a handful, but Carmen never complained. By the memories I read from her friends , Carmen was to them the person our family remembers. She blossomed into an even more beautiful and caring person. Cody and Casie, you know how blessed you are, having Carmen as your mom. Carmen had an outstanding personality and love for man kind. Truly an angel, Our heart aches for Mac, Cody,Casie,Yvette,Jeff,Alan, and Gary. May God Bless you all.
Sincerely,Frank & Laura Benedict Bartsch, Branford, Fl) Louise Benedict, (St. Pete Bch.) Harvey Benedict,(Houston, TX.) Harry & Genny Benedict Bernet,(St.Pete.Bch.) Mack, Cody and Casey,
I graduated from high school with Carmen but didn't really know her well then. We became friends during a chance encounter at the gym in 1979, the year I moved to Tallahassee. We spent precious hours together with our children during those early years and had wonderful conversations when we would run into each other over the years. I will miss those surprise visits in the Publix Deli section or at a restaurant. I can’t begin to imagine how immense your loss must be. Cody and Casey, you have grown into such lovely adults, you both expressed yourselves beautifully when you spoke during the service. You really touched my heart and the heavy hearts of those around me. Mac, Carmen loved you so much, you both were my example of how a marriage should be lived. I mourn for your loss, I pray that you will find comfort one day.

Dear Mac, Cody, and Casey
Nothing I can say here would even come close to describing how sad I am for your loss...You are all well aware of what a precious Spirit you had in your lives. Just like Cody said, it was as if we had an Angel living in our midst, and your Family will be forever changed with her departure. But what wonderful company God has in Heaven. Carmen was the First Lady of Flightline, and just her being around made us all better. You are all so lucky to have had her in your life...She would want you to be strong and continue on the best you possibly can...I can hear her now telling Cody to "take good care of your little dog, feed him, play with him, and be responsible" or Mom will have to step in and take action...I believe she "improved" just about every life she touched, including all of the Flightline Crew. You Guy's be strong, never give up, and never surrender, We all have to try our very best to live up to the example that was her life.

I had the opportunity to meet Carmen when I volunteered with the CHS Adoption Auxiliary. I didn't know Carmen well, but once you met her she was contagious with her enthusiasm for everything she did. She truly was an inspiration to all who came in contact with her. It is so hard to understand why someone who is such a gift to the world should be taken away. I will pray the Lord will bring comfort to all of her family and friends in the difficult days ahead.

I had the pleasure of spending a week with the Langston family a couple of summers ago when I joined the Boyle and Langston families on a vacation to the Caymans. Mrs. Langston is someone that I will never forget. Her laugh was infectious and I don't remember a time when she wasn't enjoying herself and everyone around her. I have such fond memories of that trip and being with both of the families. You all are in my prayers and I am honored to have met such a fine woman like Mrs. Langston.

Dear Langston Family. My family would like to extend our prayers and thoughts to you during this terrible loss. Thanks to Carmen I have a brother that my parents adopted in 1981 when she was a social worker for CHS - He will be 28 years old this year and is a very special part of my life. I will always remember Carmen coming to my parents home to 'interview' all of the children and for taking the time to make sure everyone was okay after the adoption was finalized. We have lost an Angel on earth but I am sure she is with all of the children in heaven now making sure they are loved as well. God Bless You for supporting her in her life - she will be missed forever.

The Langston Family

The day I heard an angel had died,
I tried to wipe the tears from my eyes,
like a river they ran down my face,
even though I knew she was in a better place.

I hope and pray that she's ok,
and that God takes care of her everyday,
I wish that she was never taken away,
and that we could still be with her here today.

Even though our angel has gone,
her love and her spirit still lives on,
forever in our hearts she will be,
Carmen Langston will always be more then a memory.

Forever in our hearts
You will be greatly missed Carmen

Mac, Mrs. Jeanette and Mr. Harbart (and all of the family). My heart/soul is with your family. I wish I had words of wisdom to inspire or actions to suggest to take away a little part of your pain, if only for a second. 'Everyone will express their pain in a different way'. This could require understanding. I did find that usually the most helpful are those who have gone through similar loses. You have many friends and your family; but if you or any member of your family ever feel the need to speak with someone who has experienced a similar lose, I am available anytime for a minute or for hours. I wish with all I have, you find a way to deal with the issues you will face and I think you will. You and Carmen have done so much for this community. You have made it a much better place to live in, by your continued giving and helpfulness to us. It was a joy growing up with you in Havana and then to have the luck of running in to you guys over the years in Tallahassee. All my love; Joyce

The are no words that can express my sorrow for your loss. All i can do is remember all of the good times we had together growing up and the magical way that Mrs. Carmen could light up the room with her presence. I love you all
