Gertrude Barber Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gertrude Corry Barber 1926 - Oct. 11, 2004 Mrs. Gertrude Corry Barber, 78, a native of Quincy, passed away October 11, 2004 in Clearwater, Florida, after having fought a two year battle with cancer. Known by her friends as "Babe", she grew up in Quincy where her family was in the tobacco business. She flew solo in a crop duster at the Quincy Airport. Babe was an avid golfer and sports person, married Mr. Hal Barber in the late 40's, moved to Clearwater, where she raised her family. While Hal was successful in the insurance business, Babe continued her love for golf at Clearwater Country Club and later did custom club design out of their garage. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority of F.S.U., the Junior Service League and Casado Club. Survivors include two sons, Jim and Bill Barber and three grandchildren, Bill, Jason, and Kathryn, all of Clearwater. Mrs. Babe was the younger sister of the late James "Ed" and Henry Clay Corry. Surviving local relatives include sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Corry and Mrs. Mary Corry. She also has two first cousins Reverend Richard Corry and Mrs. Jean Corry Monroe. Services were held by Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida. The Barber & Corry families

My condolences to the family. I am a Corry by birth and most likely a second cousin. My father was John Dudley Corry and grandfather was Rueben Corry, who was an uncle (or cousin) to William Arthur Corry of Quincy.
