Henrietta (Henri) C. Sander

Henrietta (Henri) C. Sander passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012 in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 86 of natural causes. According to her wishes a family memorial service will be held at a later date. Henrietta was born on August 18, 1926 in Charleston, West Virginia to Arnold B. Carney and Lillie M. Carney. She was one of five children.

She enjoyed her childhood in Beckley, West Virginia where she graduated from both Woodrow Wilson High School and Beckley Secretarial College. After college she relocated to Miami, Florida where she was employed in the aircraft industry as an administrative assistant until her retirement in1987.

She spent her retirement years in Tallahassee with her beloved husband George F. Sander, Jr. They shared many things in common and had a lot of fun throughout their marriage. They loved to travel, especially to visit family and Classic golfing destinations. They were members of Killearn Country Club and truly enjoyed all the wonderful friends they made playing golf.

Henrietta was a kind and gentle soul who always exhibited a friendly demeanor. She was polite and unselfish, and always put everyone else first. She was a treasured step mother to her step children and their families. She was a wonderful and loving wife.

Henrietta is survived by her sisters Sybil Shirkey and her husband Howard E. Shirkey, Minnie A. Johnson and her husband T.J. Johnson, step children Mark Sander (Julie), Matt Sander (Cathy), Kim Sander and Alice Sander as well as many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death her husband George F. Sander, Jr., her parents Arnold B. Carney and Lillie V. Carney, her brothers Clayton A. Carney and his wife Mary V. Carney, Buck M. Carney and his wife Folva Carney and a stepson Mitchell F. Sander.

The family wishes to thank the following for their kindness and support! The staff of TMH, the staff of Centre Pointe Rehabilitation Hospital of Tallahassee, the staff of Sterling House of Tallahassee, the staff of Home-Instead Senior Care of Tallahassee, caregiver Tammy Donaldson and Dr. Lisa Jernigan.
