John Eaton Obituary

John Girardeau Eaton

John Girardeau Eaton passed away on December 18. He was 26 years old and died in Tallahassee.

John was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Tallahassee Community College. He loved playing the flute and singing and he participated in community musical events over the years. He also played in the orchestra at Bradfordville Baptist Church. John was devoted to his family and was a loyal friend to many. He had a kind and gentle heart and was an example to all.

John is survived by his parents, Tom and Susan Eaton; his grandmother, Mary Lou Vassar; his older brother, Robert Eaton; Robert's wife Tiffany and daughter, John's niece, Penelope; and older Sister Diane Eaton Sinclair and her husband James Sinclair. Though unbearable to be apart from John, we rest in the hope of being with him and the Father in eternity.

The funeral service will be conducted at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 901 Thomasville Road in Tallahassee, on Thursday, January 2nd at 2:00 p.m.

I met John soon after I moved to Tallahassee, and I didn't know many people. John became like a big goofy older brother that I never wanted, and now I find it hard to imagine life having never met him. Whenever we would go out and play pool, he was always my teammate. He didn't care that I couldn't play at all- he would rather lose with me than see me sit the game out. That spoke volumes on John's character. He would give anything to see his friends and family happy. We would have long winded discussions on his views of the world and philosophy. John had the biggest smile and heart of anyone i've ever met. I wish only that he were here for more of our conversations, and adventures.

He wouldn't let me leave the house he shared with Jeremy and Dan without one of his "signature bear hugs" where he would lift me slightly off of the ground. I'll always miss those, and my very favorite teammate. Love you and Miss you John.

John was one of my best friends. He will always be remembered by all of us close to him and the lives he influenced. I was his roommate for the past three or so years. We spent many nights up until daybreak talking. He was intelligent, eccentric, intense, and often misunderstood.

He enjoyed talking about topics surrounding economics, mathematics, games, philosophy, friendship, relationships, and the subtleties of human emotion. He was often more of a listener than a speaker and didn't want to hog the spotlight. His insight often seemingly came from the blue. Yet when he struck a chord his thoughts often ran deep.

He often kept his true feelings far from reach. I worked with him to bring him out of his shell and often asked him how he felt about what was important to him. He was very kind, caring, and a wonderful person to know. John you will be deeply missed. I will carry your thoughts on for you.

Susan, Tom, Robert, Diane and families, Words cannot express how devastated we are by the news that John has passed. John was such a bright light for Mrs.Vick and she was so delighted by his visits. He was likewise such a wonderful friend to us too, especially Tommy and Kelsey. You can be sure he is singing and playing his flute to the delight of God and the heavenly throngs. Our prayers and love to you all, Wylene, Gary, Kelsey and Tommy

John was an exceptionally bright young man and we enjoyed many lively conversations before, during and after orchestra rehearsals at Bradfordville Baptist Church. His keen wit and avid interest in many things kept us laughing. His beautiful eyes twinkled when he so often referred me to his newest favorite book choice, Game of Thrones. He was an accomplished flutist and we often discussed musical interpretations. He was a good friend to many people and was skilled in interacting with folks of varied generations. I am deeply saddened with the news of his passing, and truly believe that he has been given a very special task in Heaven. My deepest condolences to those who loved him the most.
