The happiest times I ever had were childhood Christmas vacations in Tallahassee. Dr. Grandpa and Grandma Lois were so welcoming and were the best grandparents anyone could ever ask for. I feel so blessed that he was my grandfather.

John Sullenberger was not only a great physician, but a wonderful mentor to an aspiring kid in the mid '60's. I worked as an orderly at TMH while still a student at Leon when he and Dr. Bullard were together. I have fond memrories regarding his compassion, especially when his job was done and God took over. Dr. Sullenberger made a point to me regarding a failed attempt to rescue a gentle soul in distress during a special procedure event and I was the only one left in the room. John came back to reassure me that we "gave it our college try". I shall never forget his humanity.

We became great freinds when I became an X-Ray technician and worked together at TMH.
He also provided a great sevice to Sunland Hospital in Tallahassee with which I was proud to be a part. He and Dr. Linton, and what portable x-ray equipment I could get together, provided hope to so many patients.

John was so proud of Duke University and emplored me to persue their "PA" program.
I only wished I had done so!

I shall never forget his freindship!

John Sullenberger always treated me with great kindness and respect. Most fathers are protective of their daughters and not always crazy about the boys that come home. It took John a and I a while to get used to each other, and both of us being sports fans helped break the ice, as it often does with guys. I always respected him for his sense of humor and devotion to the practice of medicine.
John LOVED his grandchildren, and while he wasn't a "let's get down on the floor and play" type he always enjoyed the hustle and bustle of having large numbers family -- children and their spouses, his grandchildren and others --around. I have many fond memories of relaxing and enjoyable times staying with him.
He left us with many wonderful memories, and I think that will be his most enduring gift to us all.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Dr. Sullenberger from 1988 until 1994. During this time he was the Chief Medical Consultant for Florida Medicaid. As our Medical Consultant, he became so many things to so many people, both professionally and personally. Professionally, he was knowledgeable, caring, fair, and thorough in all of his work and contacts with Medicaid staff and providers. Personally, he was a great friend to all who met him. It was impossible not to be drawn to his warm personality, his great laugh, and his willingness to listen to anybody about anything. He touched so many lives, and all are better for having known him.

Dr. Sullenberger was a wonderful person. When he performed open-heart surgery on my Dad in 1976, he made sure my Mom knew exactly where his "doctor" park was at the hospital so she could use it on weekends because parking was very scarce. He was so genuine and caring, always had a smile and was so glad to see you and made you feel very special. We were fortunate to be able to continue that friendship when he had his boat at St. Marks. He will be missed. Lois and Laurie, and all his family, we know you will miss him terribly, but please know his kindnesses will speak forever.
