Larry Collins Obituary

Larry McLeroy Collins

Larry M. Collins, 79, a retired employee of the State of Florida and Leon County School Board passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He was a native of Tallahassee and a graduate of the original Lincoln High School. In later years, he moved to Havana, where he remained until his passing.

Larry received Christ at an early age and joined Philadelphia P.B Church, later he joined St. Marks P.B Church and was a member of the men's choir where he remained a faithful member until his health started to decline. He was an easy-going person who loved people and was always ready to share a funny story or joke with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed working in his yard, planting flowers, gardening and making his surroundings beautiful.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife, Blanche Collins of 46 years; five children; Herman (Deloris) Collins, Jernetha (Pastor Clevester) Oliver, Dureatha Sampson, Daytra and Andrea Jackson. Three siblings; Dorothy (Earnest) Adams, Josephus and Jacquelyn Collins. 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Julia Collins; four brothers, Edward, Fred Jr., Theodore and Leroy Collins; four sisters, Mary Williams, Estelle Jenkins, Marion Collins, and Anne Woods.

Mr. Collins will rest in the mortuary,(TODAY) Friday, Feb. 26 from 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, Feb. 27 at Greater St. Mark P.B. Church with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Richardson's Tallahassee Chapel (850) 576-4144 is honored to serve the COLLINS Family.

Larry Mcleroy Collins, man I loved that guy. Worked with Larry in the 60s, had so much fun. Larry had a great sense of humor and the greatest work ethic of anyone I have known. My sympathies to Blanche and family. God Bless Larry Collins.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry in the Caldwell Building and I chuckle when I think of the fun times and hilarious stories that he would share. My prayers and condolences go out to the family during this difficult time. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
