My friendship with Lucy began at about age 10. I would ride my bike from Shalimar to her house on Beachview Drive, where we would do fun things like make chewing gum wrapper chains! We learned to sew under her mother's watchful eye, we had our first boyfriends together, and our friendship lasted through learning to drive, graduating high school, getting married, having kids, and through life in general. To Otis, Kimberly, and Patty - smile at your memories of this beautiful lady - and know my heartfelt condolences are with you. I am saddened by her untimely passing, and will remember her with love and appreciation for the lifelong friend she was. I love Lucy.

I worked with Lucy at the Comptroller's Office. She became an instant friend. I am so shocked to hear of her passing. Otis and Kimberly, you both are in my prayers. I cannot even imagine the pain that the two of you are going through right now. Keep all of the wonderful memories of Lucy alive--she was (and still is) a VERY special lady and will be throughly missed.

When I saw Lucy at the class reunion I told her that she hadn't changed a bit, still just as sweet and fun as ever. I wonder if she knew what a positive impression she made to all she encountered.

My deepest sympathies to Patty and the rest of Lucy's survivors. Lucy was a friend of mine from junior high through high school. I last saw Lucy at our 20th high school reunion. I am so sorry I was unable to make it to our last reunion, so I could have seen her one final time. Rest in peace, my friend.

To the Smith Family,

I worked with Lucy at the Department of Revenue and she was a bright light and very sweet lady. There are no words that express how sorry I am for your loss however, I do totally understand as I recently lost my husband unexpectedly three weeks ago. You all will be in my prayers! May God Bless you in this difficult time.

Otis and Kimberly, I send you my deepest sympathy and condolences. Lucy and I (along with Janet Utter Martin) worked together at the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation back in the late 1970s and was a great friend in those days. She was always delightful company and a fellow beach lover and she loved my mother's spaghetti sauce recipe. I am so sorry for your loss; we all will miss Lucy very much.

Lucy looked so happy and vibrant at our 40th Choctawhatchee high school reunion - just the way I remember her ever since Ft. Walton Elementary School. Just goes to show, you never know what a day will bring. Well, now she has shed the cares of this world and is looking into the light that no man can look into (1 Timothy 6:16). Our prayers and thoughts are with her family. Reverend Clint Akins, D.Min.
