Maxine Roberts Obituary

Maxine Roberts Maxine Roberts, and more affectionately known as "Daw Daw" by so many, age 70, of Sneads, Florida, died Thursday, January 8, 2009, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Pansy, Alabama, she was raised In Chattahoochee, Florida. After moving away for a few years, she returned to the area more than 35 years ago. She was a retired property manager for Admiral Benbow Inn in Chattahoochee. She was a wonderful, wife, mother and grandmother, and the love she had for her family was boundless. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gene Roberts; daughters Debbie Johnson and Lynn Roberts of Sneads and son Buddy (wife Clara) of Tallahassee; four grandchildren, Kenny (wife Renee) Johnson of Alva, Florida, Brianna Johnson of Grand Ridge, Reachal and Jacob Roberts of Tallahassee; four great-grandchildren, Britain, Kylar, Tristan and Shylar Johnson of Alva, Florida; a sister, Evelyn Clark of Marianna; and two brothers, Willie Crooms (wife Patty) of Tallahassee and Shelly Crooms of Lynn Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Elma Crooms, brother, C.L Crooms and son Richie Roberts. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. CST today, January 10, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home in Sneads, Florida. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST Sunday, January 11, at Sneads First United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest at Pope Cemetery in Sneads, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Maxine's name be made to the Sneads First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 642, Sneads, FL 32460. Lanier-Andler Funeral Home (850-593-9900) in Sneads is in charge of arrangements.
