Every time I saw him, he would yell my name as if he were rooting for his favorite team. I hated it! I was embarrassed. Nearly a decade later, I finally learned to appreciate it. He was my supporter. He believed in me and my brand before I could even envision it. He made me appreciate life and its experiences because one day, they would provide clarity, purpose, and inspiration. Now, I have students and I chant their name. I plant seeds of hope, life, faith, the power of God in them because of you. I can only pray that I touch their lives the way you touched mine.
Thank you...for everything.

Love.

Dr. Agyapong taught me never to stop for boundaries or hurdles. He taught me to never be complacent or content with life; to always move forward to greatness. A warm kind hearted man I considered a father figure. He will always be in my heart and walk stride for stride with me on my path to greatness. As a fellow Ghanaian I say I love you always Dr. Agyapong.

Agyapong is gone. The world may mourn, but heaven greets him with joy. The warrior has returned to his origin. All who knew this man will miss him. His lively spirit lives with anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him. Agyapong touched the lives of many students and in many of his passions, like the Juvenile Justice Role Model Development Program, he touched the lives of many who were not a part of academe. As a colleague he was a constant source of support and enthusiasm; if the department was in need of anything, he always pitched in to make things right. He was a strong advocate of Ghana and Africa, African values, African culture, and the African outlook; he advocated this as a full citizen of the world. Agyapong did not just live in this world; he changed the world to match his vision of how the world could be. We live in a better world because he passed through and shaped it as he thought the world should be. Agyapong always called me chief and the chief misses his most valiant warrior.

Carolyn, Through the most difficult time of your marriage to our friend the 'General' you have by the Grace of God displayed such support and love. One can only admire you and thank God for such deep love you both shared. Truly you depicted the marriage vow in 'health & sickness.' You never left his side and he was always appreciative. Thank you for modeling the love of God. Great is your reward. Truly God alone gives strength. Our prayers & love are with you and the family at this time.

Much love Kirk, Mel, Krissy & Anna

Words cannot explain how saddened I am by Dr. Agyapong's passing. Since January I was blessed with the opportunity to learn so much from him as his graduate assistant. Since I started at FAMU in the spring of 2010 he was always pushing me to be great, better than I was when I was, and always with a smile on his face. In these 8 months of working closely with him I saw how great of a man he truly was, always smiling, always telling students to remain positive, and not once was he angry. He was the definition of a blessing to all he came in contact with. My prayers are with his lovely wife and cildren. You have earned your rest Dr. A. Sleep in Peace.
