Mr Gaines was the best boss I ever worked for. He would never ask us to do something that he wouldn't do himself. He was an inspiration to everyone. I will miss him.

Mr. Gaines was the most respected person at Lake Howell, even when we got into trouble. I don't know anybody who has a bad word to say about him, only good stories. I'm glad he was a part of my life, even for those four short years. He will be missed by many.
Mrs. Gaines I have good memories of you too, at Tuskawilla. You were the best guidance counselor and PE teacher I ever had.

Mr. Gaines will forever be someone very special in our lives. We met in 1990 when Griselle went to work at Lake Howell High School. His dedication to students, faculty and everyone he crossed paths with is something we'll always remember. May God hold you in the palm of his hand and may your family and friends be forever blessed. Everyone loved Mr. Gaines. When he came back on campus at Lake Mary we all made a beeline to see him. His contagious and bright smile and hearty laugh always brightened any day. He leaves us with a legacy of compassion, integrity, and wisdom.

To the Gaines family, so much has been said and nothing false. I would like to say to you that I feel GOD has let us witness an angel walking among us. I heard it said that you shall know the tree by the fruit it bears. From the life he lived the bar has been set very high this man was truly a giant among giants. Every man should want to walk in his foot prints. Linda, Pastor Ray, Kyle, Eric, Derrick, you all are in my prayers but you are all well aware that it's Shouting going on over yonder and Halelujah, Halelujah lastly the bible kjv says in 2nd Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith; Verse 8 says Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteous, which the
LORD, the righteous Judge,shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. May you find some comfort in these few words. I was happy to learn that we are related,"Fox Gaines" See you cousin, see you ya! You can't crown him till I get there.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The sight of Mr. Gaines walking the halls of Lake Howell with megaphone in hand is forever embedded in my adolescent memory. Just as his smile, kindness, understanding and wisdom he shared are forever imprinted on my heart.
Mrs. Gaines my deepest sympathies are with you and your family as you morn the passing of a wonderful man, husband, father and beautiful soul. He positively influenced more lives than you can ever know and I, for one, am grateful you shared him with us.
As another Silver Hawk soars to heaven I’m reminded of our Alma Mater “In your arms we grew... pride forever, dying never, hear our battle cry, we shall triumph o'er all conflict, hail to…” Mr. Gaines.

I went to school at Lake Mary (Class of 2002) & remember Mr. Gaines. So sorry to hear this but I'm glad that he knew Jesus. :) He was a really nice teacher!

This comes as such sad news. It's been a long time since my LHHS days but I remember Mr. Gaines quite well. He was a great man and will be sadly missed. My condolences to Mrs. Gaines who I also remember "very" well from my Tuskawilla days.

Dear Linda & Family: I am deeply saddened to learn of Raymond's passing. Though I have not seen him for many years, the childhood memories linger. Such good-times were had at the Gaines' house and nursery(our week-end hang-out). I remember how Mr.&Mrs.Gaines would be right there in the mix keeping a close eye. They would feed us,play games with us, and safely see us home,when necessary. The Gaines boys were true gentleman always. Our families never worried about us when we were with them. Raymond was molded to become the successful individual that he was through his very loving and caring parents whose unselfish love and compassion touched the lives of so many. I am so very grateful for having Raymond and his family in my life during my formative years. What an inspiration!!! I know that he fought the good fight with all that he had, but the Lord looked down upon his
good and faithful servant and knew that he was ready to rest. He had done
all that he could do for family,friends
and the many children he served. So we bid you love,peace and sweet memories.
Never forgetting that God granted you the priviledge of sharing in the life of one of the best he ever made. May
God continue to bless each of you through these sorrowful times and forever.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Gaines passing. I was just thinking about contacting him to let him know I FINALLY made it through college and will be teaching first grade next year. He was so supportive of my younger quest in college and supplied me with many letters of recommendation. I have many fond memories of my experiences with Mr. Gaines as well as our many conflicts over my rants about CFC's in the cafeteria trays. :0) His departure certainly leaves Florida short a great educator and leader!

Dear Mrs Gaines and Family, I want to express our deepest sympathy to your family. With Mr. Gaines' passing we lost a great friend of my father's. When my dad was diagnoised with cancer he was at my dad's side. When my dad passed away Mr. Gaines and Mrs. Gaines were one of the first at my family's home. He was tough but fair and loved Lake Howell High School. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Gaines made a difference in my life and many others.

Truly Deacon Gaines was a man of GOD and he inspired all of those that had the opportunity to know him.
