Thank you to EVERYONE that loved Richard and left comments to his guestbook. The out pouring of love and friendship towards him is just unreal! He was a wonderful husband and father and as wonderful as he was to us, I had no idea he had touched so many lives that I did not even know about until now. That's just the way he was. I've lost half my heart and will never be the same without him. The pain seems to be even more unbearable now 3 weeks later. We'd been married for 25 years so I do not know any life without him in it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts of him. It made me feel proud to know how much he was loved.

To Pam, Christopher, Ashley, Kayla, Rebecca, Carol, Dejah and Jayden.

I just learned today of Richards passing because I had retired from F.S.U. October of 2008. I was saddened by the news.

Richard to me was a fine person who always had a smile on his face when I saw him. He was always eager to help, and never seemed to be too busy to assist.

I know each of you will surely miss him as will all of the people that worked so closely with him.

God Bless your family each and every one of you.

Sincerely

Pam, honey...I don't even know what to say. I am stunned, but I want you and all the kids to know you have my love, and I am and will always be just over the next hill if you should ever need me. I will always remember the emails that you, Richard, and I used to swap, and the gales of laughter that ensued. Y'all are loved and cherished by so many, and have enriched the lives of everyone with your love, and courage. Bless you and the babies. All my love - Sam and family in Texas.

I'm somewhat surprised at the deep pain I feel since I never met Richard. Please know that I am with you in spirit and that I love you and yours. May God be with you and the kids.

Richard always had a kind word for me. Whenever I needed someone to talk to I could always count on him to be calm and listen to what I had to say. He was quite the amazing man and I will miss him dearly. RIP and God Bless.

Pam and family,
I worked with Richard for many years. I have children his age and I also thought of him as "one of my boys". We had many interesting conversations and it was always a joy to talk with him.
I know that you all will forever miss him, but remember this one thing. God is with you and your strength will come from Him alone. The grief will eventually subside. God has a way of letting any bad memories fade and only good ones will remain.
May God bless you all and bring you comfort in the coming days.

Ricky, I always considered you were my third child since you were 17 yrs old. I had the best son-in-law in the whole world. You took care and loved my daughter with all your heart and I want to thank you for that. You and I were always on the "same page" when it came to our beliefs and feelings. I miss you son and love you so very much.

Becky, Carol and Chris,

I was sorry to hear of Ricky's passing. My prayers are with you all.

While my memories of Ricky are decades old, they are good ones. Your parents and family were very kind to me and Ricky was part of that.

I worked with Richard at OTC from 2002-2006 where we were both supervisors. Richard had this old couch in his office nicknamed the "therapy couch" where I'd go hide when I just needed a break from a frustrating day, or if I just felt like saying hi. He always made me laugh.

Richard and I also shared the same birthday, July 9. Every year, even after I left OTC, I always made sure to call or email him to wish him happy birthday. This year was no exception.

I am fortunate to have known Richard, and I'll always remember him.

Richard and I worked together at FSU for over 20 years. He always greeted me with "How's it going Jones P?". Over the years we've had many conversations about our service in the Corps and I never tired of hearing his war stories. He was a man of quiet strength with an easy smile and fierce loyalty to those things he held dear.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Richard's family and friends.

Rest In Peace DevilDog, you will be greatly missed.

Richard was always a true friend, father, mentor, boss, and a angel to me in my life. Without his help I would not be the man I am today. His words and mannerisms still ring true to this day! Many times Richard picked me from my boot straps and gave me the courage to face things head on. He had a special way to put life in perspective. I will never forget my 7p's or you Richard. Thank you for everything! You are greatly missed.

Ricky D. and I worked together for over 20 years of which the 1st 7 or so side by side. Over the years he became known as a calm influence on all that he met, though he would fight for his "guys" when he thought things weren’t right. “Country” as we sometimes called him was well liked and will be missed by myself and the FSU community.

May Daddy God send the Comforter to you and may His light guide your steps.

To the WIlliams family,

I worked with Richard when I first started FSU back in 1996 all his kind words and funny jokes. I still remember to this day the nickname he & Bruce gave me CAT SQUIRREL for the way I would climb the cage for inventory.

Pam my thoughts and prayers are with you today and everyday forward. I just lost my husband March 18th 2009 unexpectally. I feel your pain and sorrow.

God will pull you through.

Love & prayers, Teresa

I knew Ricky in High School and remember what a sense of humor that he had. I admired him for being so disaplined in his fittness! I was jealous of that. I later met his wife, Pam on line and we became fast friends. She is a very sweet and loving person. From that I knew Ricky was happy and loved. I will pray for Pam and the family, for I know what it is to lose a LOVED One! Just know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I know He will be missed. Remember the GOOD TIMES and the GREAT Memories you had together. GOD BLESS you all.

August 12, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Richard was my first supervisor at FSU. It was such a blessing to be able to work for him. My mom was his co-worker, as well. Mom always said you could tell how much Richard loved his wife and his children. He will be greatly missed by all.
Richard and his family gave me my cat, too! Pam, I still have Gracie after 9 years and she is so great. She sleeps on her back with her feet straight in the air like your cat, Uncle Weiner.
Our love and prayers go out to Richard's family and the OTC family.

In His Care,

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget."

Richard and I worked together at FSU for over 9 years. I considered him not only a co-worker but, a friend. He pulled me through days of stress and sadness. I will miss his positive words ("they're just crazy, Sherrell") and spirit. The world has lost a great man. My prayers are with your family.

I ve really enjoyed the times I spoke with Richard on the phone and on the message board; sort of strange how you feel about a person even though you've never actually met them in person.

Richard I salute you, rest in peace my friend.

I knew Richard also from the Rival.com Message Boards. Beyond there we swapped numerous e-mails. Richard was an upbeat humorous unique individual who will be sorely missed. A person I deeply regret not having met in person. I will be keeping him and the family in my prayers.

To Richard's family,

I never had the pleasure of meeting your dad in person, but the conversations we shared I will remember forever. Judging from what people on Warchant and Gatorbait have written, he was loved by so many people. I pray that through time, God will ease your pain and only the loving memories that you shared will fill your heart.

I also want to Thank your Dad for his service to our country. He was so proud to be a Marine and we all were very proud of him. I will miss him dearly!

May God Bless You ALL!

Richard touched my life as Semper Fi Nole. I will never forget him, and I mourn for this loss. May he rest in peace, and his family find comfort in that he was a special human being, that touched the lives of many.

Richard was a tough guy on the outside with a kind caring heart on the inside. He cared for his friends just like they were his family.

He touched so many lives. Many on Warchant only knew him as Semper Fi Nole, the witty poster with a dry sense of humor who hated the Gators. But some had the opportunity to know him off of the boards and they feel very lucky to have met and gotten to know such a wonderful man. I was one of the lucky few that was friends with him off of the Warchant board and for that I am grateful.

He spoke fondly of his children and of his wife Pamela whenever we spoke. He truly loved his family and was proud to show his son off at various FSU Tailgate parties.

Richard was there for me when I was going through some personal struggles last year and the first part of this year. He made it a point to check in with me often offering an ear for me to vent to. He would try to make me laugh with his witty one-liners and I would just tell him he was a "big dork".

Pamela I cannot even begin to understand what you and your children are going through at this time. If it gives you any peace know tat Richard touched hundreds of lives and hearts in his own special way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Chris and your daughters.

God bless you and your family.
