Lt. Cmdr. Allen E. ALMAN USNR (Ret.)

ALMAN, Lt. Cmdr. Allen E. USNR (Ret.) age 85, passed away on Sept. 25, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he grew up in New York and graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy (Tom's River, NJ.) He received his degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University. A lifelong aviator, he won flying lessons at age 14, and went on to earn the title of Naval aviator. He flew combat missions during the Korean conflict, became a test pilot, and flew many of the early Navy jets. He continued to fly until he was in his 80's. A lifelong sailing and boating enthusiast, he was a member of the Storm Trysail Club. He was also a proud member of the United Flying Octo-genarians (UFO). He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis; his loving three children, Jill Bernstein (Jonathan), James Alman (Karrin), and Eve Goldstein (Dr. Warren); and eight adoring grandchildren, Jenna, Josh, and Julian Bernstein, David and Mark Alman, and Amelia, Jason, and Caroline Goldstein.
