Barrett Spencer Obituary

SPENCER, Barrett L., 55, of Tampa, formerly of Tulsa, died Thursday, December 20, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; three sisters; and more friends than anyone could ever imagine. Barrett was a large man with an even larger personality. If there ever was a "gentle giant," it was this brilliant man and former athlete. Barrett served as chairman of the board for Strega Holdings, founder of Strega Realty Inc., vice chairman of The Mental Health Foundation, director for The Mental Health Care Foundation board of directors, chairman of The Mental Health Care Foundation endowment fund and chairman of the Mental Health Care planned giving and endowment committee. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, located at 605 S. Mac Dill Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Mental Health Foundation, 5707 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33610.
