I miss my childhood friend. I have been an RN for 30 years and we reconnected when he also worked for the DOJ. He was so kind to me growing up, as was Bob Hartzell. They always invited me boating, to go bike riding or play basketball. I could make Bart laugh so hard he couldn“t speak and he did the same to me. We got in trouble at a Christmas program at the Baptist church once. We could not stop giggling and I had to leave the stage because I was convulsing with laughter because Bart was next to me and singing his own dirty lyrics to Silent Night. I saw him during the class of `75 reunion. I am so grateful he was in my childhood and we reconnected as adults. I was in NPR last week and driving by the old neighborhood and thinking of him and past memories, I cried. He is missed.

I don't even know what made me Google Bart's name today, and I'm so sad to have found this news. I was 17 years old and a freshman in college when I met Bart. He was on rotation at a hospital near my college campus and we saw each other on and off for many years in the mid-to late 80s. So long ago, but I remember him so fondly - gosh he would make me laugh to tears. Funny, smart, kind, aloof - he will always be for me the one that got away. I wish we had reconnected. Praying that you are resting in peace.

I was working with Bart in Georgia, he was a great friend, I love to work with him. We had shared our desire to pass the exams and work as a physician. When I successfully completed my revalidation for the Puerto Rican Medical Board, he invited my for a great BBQ after my last shift. Unfortunately I have never met him again. Once I have spoken to him on the phone. I did not know his passing until today!
I miss him very much, he was a great human being, it was very tragic his early passing. There is no other place for him now but the Heaven!

Dear Tara, Brent and Young Family,
I am so sad and shocked to hear of Bart's passing. The Grey's and Young's were always like family. Bart being my age, was my favorite. We loved each other in our wonderful way, when we weren't fighting like siblings would! I have so many precious memories. Such as bumming around out in the boat (breaking prop and trying to figure out how to tell Bart's dad) or snow skiing! I share your sadness but as so many of his other friends have written here, i too will hold onto the good times, his laugh and sense of humor and real hugs.
Love and prayers to you all. Liz Grey Powers

So very sad to hear the news of Bart's passing. I knew him since 2nd grade, dance school and through high school. He, his brother, his dad and his nana were always so kind to me. Bart was always fun and upbeat, RIP and my sincerest sympathy to his family and close friends.

It has been a very tough year as another of our friends and classmate passes away all too soon. I remember sharing many a laugh, and more than a few Chili Macs, during our glory days at Gulf High School. I will miss Bart's good humor and warm spirit. The world is a duller place without him.
