Benjamin Harrison Obituary

HARRISON, Benjamin "Ben," 74, of Tampa, went to be with the Lord June 11, 2009. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa, and is survived by his sons, Allan (Jody), Ben Jr. (Doreen) and Don (Cindy); five grandchildren; and four great-grand-children. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was an electrical contractor, retiring at 33. He spent the rest of his years helping others, restoring bicycles to give to children at Christmas; sharing his time, tools, comfort and laughter with friends, neighbors and strangers in need; giving the loose change in his pockets to children; and telling funny stories. Ben was a talker, a listener a doer and a helper. He was "bigger than life." A special thanks goes to his caregivers, Sherry "Sarge" Mast and Lysonia Morris. The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Northwest Tampa Church of God, 5131 Gunn Highway, with services starting at 3 p.m. A gathering will follow in the fellowship hall.

Ben was a great man and will be missed. I have some of my fondest childhood memories with Ben. I still get a chuckle when I think of him. He was a real trooper to take a bunch of kids camping, teaching us about horses, the rodeos at Lake Park and who could forget tubing the Weeki Wachee. Ben always had a smile on his face and a laugh to share. My deepest sympathy to his family for their loss.

"Ben" A Man Who Never Meet A Stranger,
His Smile Always Made You Feel Good About Your Self And He Always Made Life
Feel Like Worth Living, There Are No Tellings How Many Hearts He Touched In His Life. And Stories He Would Tell Ya Always Made Ya Laugh. We (My Husband and I) Meet Ben in 1985-86 We Went To See An Apartment He Had For Rent That Is The Day Our Friendship Began, He Was The First One To Know That We Were Gunna Have A Baby He Bought Her First Shoes To Let Jeff Know We Were Having Our Baby. Ben and Treasa were Family to Us, She Was The First One To Watch Our Daughter,
We Love Them Both So Much, Ben Always Showed Us A Good Time After We Moved Here And Would Come To Visit, He Was A Great Man, He Was Proud Of His Family and Proud Of Him Self,( But Never Actted Like It) You Could Just Tell My The Stories He Told. He Helped So Many People, With Just That Smile On His. I Have Seen Him Pay Someone Bill So They Could Eat. That Is A Man Of God,
We Were So Blessed To Have His Family In Our Lives, Yes We Are Sad, But We Do Know That He Is With Momma Now And No More Pain Or Suffering, But We Are Left Behind Sad And Feeling Lost Without Him and Wishing We Would Of Called More Sent More Cards, Just To Say Hello And That We Loved Him,
To The Family We Know You Are Hurting More Than Everyone Else But Please Know He Was So Proud Of You All And That You All Are In Our Hearts And Prayers.
I Hope We Can Make It Down There If Not We Will See You In A Few Weeks,
God Be With You All,

I wish I knew how to put the song on here,
"I Can See Clearly Now" It Really Makes Sence, I Listened To It A Four Times Today In Memery Of Our Friend Ben, I Can see Clearly Now The Rain Is Gone...All The Pain Is Gone...I Hope You Get A Chance To Hear It..With Love Jeff ~ Cindy
