Darrel Cann Obituary

CANN, Darrell A. 63, left us unexpectedly on Jan. 14, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Darrel and his wife, Joyce, had recently retired to their dream home in the foothills of Nebo, NCand was only visiting Brandon when he unexpectedly passed away at a local hospital. Darrel was born in Hamilton, OH on Feb. 1, 1948, the son of the late Adrian and Margaret Cann. He was a longtime resident of Hillsborough County, graduating from Brandon High School in 1966. Darrel was a Vietnam veteran and spent over 40 years coaching Little League, most recently the District Administrator of the Southeast Little League District in Hillsborough County. He spent many years working as the facilities manager at The Spring of Tampa Bay and Environment Services Department Manager at several local hospitals. He recently obtained every man's dream job as the Wal-Mart greeter in Marion, NC. Darrel is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Bisher) Cann, a Brandon High School graduate; and he was the loving father of three daughters, Marci (Sam ) Irwin, Wendi (Travis) Muse, and Emili (Richard) Tindale; gentle and caring Grandfather "Pot" of Cayti Irwin, Sawyer Irwin, Seth Irwin, Malori Muse, Russell Jones, Katherine Jones, Audrey Jones, and Avery Pick; two loving sisters, Sally Cann Burkett of Townsend, TN and Sue Cann Stanley of Florida City. He was predeceased by three brothers, Eddie, Gary and Lon Cann. He was a member of the Brandon Chapter of the Elks Lodge and Brandon Chapter of the Goldwing Road Riders Assoc. A memorial service will be held at the Stowers Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at 10am followed by an interment service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Life Path Hospice at www.chaptershealth.org. Condolences may be expressed online at www.stowersfh.com
