David Brown Obituary

Brown, David Anthony III

75, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on July 8, 2025. Born on August 23, 1949, on Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, Alabama, David was the beloved son of David Anthony Brown Jr. and Lillian Gaines Webb. He was raised alongside his three sisters, Judy Brown Connelly, Melissa Brown Austin, and Linda Brown Roswell, and spent much of his childhood in St. Petersburg, where he graduated from Northeast High School. Following high school, David served his country with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, stationed at the Key West Naval Base in Key West, Florida and then onto Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California. His military service was a formative and proud chapter in his life. After completing his military service, David attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. During his time at University of South Florida, he was an active member of the SAE fraternity and played on the university's baseball team. A man of deep faith, David was a devoted Christian who spent his Sundays attending services at Church by the Sea in St. Petersburg. He also met weekly with his bible study group, made up of fellow veterans, where faith and fellowship were a cornerstone of his life. David is survived by his son, David A. Brown IV of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his daughter, Katie Clark and her husband Steve of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and his three cherished granddaughters, Lillian, Abigail, and Caroline, all of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Brown Connelly, Melissa Brown Austin, and Linda Brown Roswell; his uncle, Sonny Brown of California; and his beloved dog, Sammy Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillian. A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2025, at 10 am at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida. All who knew and loved David are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Church by the Sea, St. Petersburg, FL, or to a veterans' organization of your choice. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to David's bible study friends, Church by the Sea, and all those who offered support and comfort in recent weeks.
