David was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and beloved member of the Tampa Bay community. He served as a physician and mentor to many. He is irreplaceable and will be missed by those he loved and who loved him in return. His life was marked by service, compassion, professionalism, dedication, and simply an ability to enjoy life. David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loretta Haskins Cimino; his daughters, Davanna Cimino and Deena Cimino Agliano; his son, Justen Richard Cimino (Olga); grandchildren, John David Agliano, MD (Hallie), William S. Kilgore, Jenna Agliano Sindoni (Alessandro), Desmond C. Kilgore, David M. Kilgore and Nina Rubio; great-grandchildren, Mia Sindoni and Julia Agliano. His son, David A. Cimino Jr., predeceased him. David grew up in Tampa. His roots in Tampa's Ybor City and West Tampa reach back to Alessandria della Rocca, Sicily, where the Cimino family emigrated from at the end of the 19th century. He graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, class of 1954. After receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 1959, he went to the University of Florida College of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine in 1963. He served his pediatric internship and residency at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1963-1965, and completed his residency in pediatrics as Chief Resident at the University of Florida in 1966. As a pediatrician David served in the United States Air Force at MacDill Air Force Base from 1966 until 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War. David practiced pediatric medicine in private practice in Tampa for 20 years. He took the position of Director of Adolescent Medicine at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg Florida in 1988. He was an Affiliate Professor of Pediatrics, University of South Florida, College of Medicine. Later in his career he worked in the Pinellas County Schools to advocate for the establishment and proper staffing of schools clinics until he retired due to the school closures during the Covid pandemic. David received many professional recognitions and awards throughout his 50 plus year career in pediatrics. David was the ultimate family man, a loyal Gator football fan, and the truest lover of life. He and Loretta had a deep love and respect for each other. Their life together was filled with worldwide travel, good food, great wine, and tons of friends and family. David was an exemplary role model of the ideal husband and parent for his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and wider community. He will be missed very much, yet the warmth and love he leaves behind is his greatest legacy. David and I worked together for many years to promote school health in Hillsborough County and Pinellas County. We had a wonderful collaborative relationship. He was a fine clinician and was dedicated to our mission of providing the best care to students. We collaborated on many policy protocols and he always had my back when any controversies arose. He will be missed by everyone who knew him professionally and personally. He was a true gentleman and the definition of what a physician should be. My sincere condolences to his family. Jonni H. Klapper, M. D.

I first met Dr. Cimino when I started my internship on the pediatrics rotation at Tampa General Hospital in 1974. He was one of the kindest and most caring men I have ever met. After the birth of both of my children he served as their pediatrician. Over the years I referred him many patients, and I was privileged to inteact with him at Women's Hospital in Tampa. He was truly a fine doctor and human being, and it was my privilege to call him friend.

It was an honor to know and work with David Cimino. In my 35 years working in Pinellas County Schools for the health, safety, and welfare of all students, no one came close to matching his wisdom and compassion for all kids.
