David Rines Obituary

RINES, David M. 55, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 9, after a year long battle with cancer. He was born in Fitchburg, MA, May 11, 1955, to Manning and Francis Rines. During his service, he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medals twice. After the Navy, he began his 23 year career in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, eventually spending 18 years working for Plasma-Therm LLC in St. Petersburg as a Product Manager. He became an avid Gator fan while serving in Jacksonville and routinely made the trip up to Gainesville for home games with his close friends. Anyone that knew David would know that he always had to be wearing something 'Gator'. David has joined his brother Paul and sister-in-law Mary Jane Rines. He is survived by his parents, Manning and Francis Rines of Fitchburg, MA; wife Claire; son Christopher of Albany, NY; brother James (Mary) Rines of Leominster, MA and sisters Paula (Bill) Langone of Arlington, MA and Jane (Bob) Chartrand of Westminster, MA. He is also survived by seven nieces; two grand nieces; four grand nephews and one great-grand nephew. David always maintained a positive attitude and was a true inspiration to all that met him. He will be truly missed by his family, long time friends, neighbors and co-workers. Memorial services will be held today at Dobies Funeral Home in New Port Richey from 6 pm-8 pm. A funeral with military honors will be held at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA Nov. 29th. Just found these old pictures vintage 1963 or so - must have been from one of those photo booths - we had a blast together.

I just heard the sad news from my sister Dale. David was my best friend way back in first and second grade - I still remember him and how kind and loyal he was. No surprise he had a successful career. My deepest condolences to Claire and son Christopher... and to Mr. and Mrs. Rines from the old neighborhood.

Claire, I am so sorry for your loss. Perhaps you don't remember me as it has been many years since I worked at Plasma Therm, however, I always held warm memories of Dave's generosity, enthusiasm, friendship and dedication to both, work and family during my tenure at PT. My sincerest condolences to you, your son and to your entire family. May Dave's memories live happily in your heart for ever.

As the former next door neighbor of David and Claire for six years, I was truly shocked to learn of David's passing. I had no idea about his illness. David was a true gentleman and a great neighbor. The annual Super Bowl parties at his house are fond memories! It was a distinct priviledge to have known him. Claire, I am truly sorry for the loss to you and your family.
