Donald Bahr Obituary

BAHR, Donald Ruh, a retired patent attorney and executive of Spalding & Evenflo Co., died March 14, 2008, after a sudden, brief illness. The longtime Tampa, resident was 71. He was born July 17, 1936, in Fort Mitchell, Ky. Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Hanneken Bahr; sister, Dianne Bahr; brothers, Curt Bahr and Pedro Fernandez; sons, Don Bahr Jr., Kevin Bahr and Stuart Bahr, and their wives; daughters, Meta Azar, Alyssa Fortin, Michele Paschal, and their husbands; 16 grand-children; and an extensive circle of friends and family members from around the world. Don' s life was shaped prominently by his devotion to his wife, Ruth. The example of their loving and loyal marriage has provided stability and inspiration to their children and everyone who met them. Don' s top priority was family. He did everything with incredible enthusiasm and included his family in all his pursuits - boating, hunting, traveling and biking, (just a few weeks before he died Don was still biking 10 miles a day!) to name a few. Don' s ashes will be scattered at sea at Anna Maria Island, Fla. and at Ada, Ghana. Don will be honored in a funeral service at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at St. Mary' s Catholic Church, Tampa. All of his friends and colleagues are invited to attend. Condolences will follow in the family home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to your favorite charity.
