Eleanor SHANKS Obituary

SHANKS, Eleanor F.

Brown age 73 of French Creek, WV, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her home. She was born May 22, 1941 in Tampa and has lived in the Frenchton, WV community for the last ten years. Preceding her in death are her parents, Joseph M. and Abby Inez Shaw Turney; sister, Vivian Levy and nephew, John H. Pellum. Eleanor is survived by her children, Phyllis (Eli) Gsoell of Brooksville, Franklin Wayne Skanks of Brooksville, Connie (Ed) Smith of Goldtown, WV, Joseph (Dee) Skanks of Tampa, Margaret (Tom) Moore of French Creek, WV, Eleanor Brown of Oldtown, FL and Elmer B. (Kasey) Brown of Trenton, FL; brothers and sisters, Joseph M. Turney, Gloria E. Pelham and Sylvia (Roy) Pellum all of Tampa, Wallace (Jean) Turney of St. Marys, GA and Alan (Faye) Turney of Lakeland, FL; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great- great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown enjoyed music, especially singing her favorite hymns. She loved cooking, planting and tending to food and flower gardens. Eleanor was drawn to the water, fishing was one of her favorite past times. Her sense of humor and kind heart turned complete strangers into instant friends. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed sharing her love of the Lord Jesus with anyone she met. The family is honoring their mother's request for cremation and a private family service will be held in Tampa at a later date.
