Ernest Harris Obituary

HARRIS, Dr. Ernest L. Jr., passed away December 8, 2004. He was born in Raleigh, NC to Ernest Lee Harris and Daisy Atkinson Harris on April 19, 1930. He graduated from Forest Lake Academy in 1948. He graduated from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland in 1960. Dr. Harris practiced General Dentistry for 36 years in east Orlando. He was a member of the Orange County Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He gave his time and talents regularly to the Orange County Dental Clinic. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and over the years held many offices in the church. Ernie's favorite recreation was snow-skiing and he spent time skiing in Colorado every winter for nearly 30 years. He also loved boating, travel, photography and spending time at the beach. He lived in Longwood for 42 years and in 2003 moved to Sebring. After a long illness, he died at home surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his wife of 55 years, Lois Layman Harris; daught ers, Jan Boehmer (husband, Todd) of Sebring and Lynn Parker (husband, George) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Carly Williams (husband, Geoffrey), Erin Fletcher, Colin Fletcher and Chandler Parker; brother, Robert Harris (wife, Pat) of Avon Park, and sister, Dora Harrison of Altamonte Springs. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the Markham Woods Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 505 Markham Woods Rd, Longwood, FL. The service will be conducted by Pastor James Coffin. Garden Chapel Home for Funerals is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Markham Woods Church Building Fund.
