Even though Floyd had been ill for awhile his passing at 66 still came as a shock to me. I'm glad he is no longer suffering. He was a wild and crazy uncle to me. We had our ups and downs through the years. He was a very free spirited person and you never knew what he was going to do or say next. He could be funny and very comical at times. He had travelled as a child (before I was even born) with the family from his origins in Louisiana, all the way to California, then back across the country to North Carolina. Eventually when I was a small child we all settled in St. Petersburg, FL which was where Floyd spent the majority of his life. He did get married once for a time and lived up in the mountains of West Virginia back in the 1980's. I have fond memories of visiting him there a couple different times as a child. He eventually returned to Florida though and stayed for good. He was an upbeat and positive person all and all. He lived his life his way and on his terms. He could be a bit of pain in the butt sometimes but we still loved him. I hope he is at peace now with his mom and dad. He leaves behind 3 sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. R.I.P. Uncle Floyd aka "Butch".
