I just found put about Dr Applebaum’s passing. He was my cardiologist shortly before he retired. He put my mind at ease while addressing any concerns with diligence and an obvious intent to give me his very best of care. I especially enjoyed all the stories he would share about his family at every appointment. It was obvious he loved you all very much and that his passion was truly his family.

This man was my cardio. It was pretty clear that there is one word that best describes Dr. Applebaum. LOVE. He loved helping people. He loved people. He simply exuded love. The world would be Nirvana if everybody behaved the way Dr. Applebaum did. Prayers for Dr. & prayers for his family who he spoke of every time we met.

I met Dr. Applebaum over 16 years ago as my cardiologist. Through his intelligence, guidance and counsel, I am healthier today than when we met, which is hard to do as you age. He truly was an exceptional person who made an incredible difference not just in my life, but in so many others. He will be greatly missed.

The Carreres were so sorry to hear that Hal had passed away. We had always heard what a good doctor he was, but it was the family man that we knew. He loved his children so much and would do anything for them. I can only imagine how happy those two grandsons made him. And Celia- such beautiful care she always gave to her husband and their family. We are so sorry for the pain you must now feel and know that only time will heal that. We send our thoughts and prayers.

I grew up with Hal in Hollywood and attended Tulane with him. I even bumped into him at Lightning games. Scott was my dentist for many years. I remember his mother used to work for Eastern Airlines. Some facts just get stuck in your head, never to be lost...LOL. My condolences go out to Celia and the entire Applebaum family and circle of friends.

Dr. Applebaum was a special doctor and person. He was my husband's cardiologist for years; he was so patient with the many questions we had for him. He really spent the time to get to know my husband and his were the only doctor's appointments Bob did not dread. His humanity and kindness will surely be missed. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I have been a patient of Dr. Applebaums for more then 20 years . He always had a smile on his face when you arrived, and a pat on your back when you left, but in between it was all about you and your heart. My wife joined me as one of his patients several years ago...We thought of him as family, and he always talked about his family with such love and caring. We send our deepest conolences to all of you. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

My wife , Pat , and I were shocked and saddened to read of Dr, Hal Applebaum's passing in today's Times . As patients and later , friends , he was
the high standard of skilled physician and compassionate professional to whom we compare other physicians. He became my heart Dr., due to an Afib
attack when no one else would respond to my ER admission . I still carry his
business card with his personal cell number written on it . I will continue to
carry it as a reminder of true professional excellence . Richard Dutton,Ph.D.

Hal and I shared the specialty of cardiology. I did not meet him until the mid 1990s, I had the good fortune of sharing many wonderful discussions with him about some of the complex and controversial topics in our profession. Hal had such a wonderful openness that these controversial topics could be explored with confidence that all opinions were valuable. He had a wonderful teaching manner that made it possible for him to share intricate concepts in medicine with his patients that they could understand and incorporate into their lives. Hal had a basic joy about himself that I have seen in few. He was trustworthy, perhaps the most important virtue required for being a physician. I will miss our encounters as I know his family will miss his warmth and love.

I'm saddened knowing I've lost a dear friend for over 20 years. I was one of his patients, but we did share parts of our personal lives over time. Being a pilot, we often spent too much time discussing aviation experiences which drove poor Lisa crazy. He wanted me to call him Hal, but I had too much respect for him to do that. I will always miss and remember him. A good man who left us all way too early. God bless.

I met Hal in 1973 when I was a junior medical student at the University of Miami. We both finished our specialty training at U.S.F. He was always a very pleasant affable cardiologist, and when I had my medical practice in the Temple Terrace area it was my privilege to refer him any of my patients that had heart problems. Although we have not crossed paths for quite a few years, I will miss him and remember him fondly.
