Robert S. Applebaum

Robert S. Applebaum, 81, of Richland passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September. 6, 2025, after a short illness.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late David and Lillie Applebaum, Robert grew up and lived in Vineland for most of his life, before ultimately moving to Richland after retirement. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he served his country with courage and honor in Vietnam earning numerous medals, including a Purple Heart. His experience in the Marine Corps shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty.

A mechanic by trade, he retired from the Hamilton Township Public works department. He was an active member of the Marine Corps League, serving as the State Commandant from 1992-1993 and receiving the Pack & Kennel Dog of the year awards in 1991 as well as the Marine of the year award in 1993.

Above all else, Robert was a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones in simple moments of togetherness such as family dinners and holidays. His kind and generous spirit was the cornerstone of his family. He will be remembered for his unwavering love and strong will, and his kindness, warmth, and humor will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents, David (1989) and Lillie (2011) Applebaum, as well as his first wife, Mildred Applebaum, in 1992.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Marian Applebaum; three children, Craig Applebaum (Heather), Eric Strauss (Lora) and Lisa Hanson (Joe); four grandchildren, Teagan and Talia Strauss, Ava Herbert and Emily DiPrimio.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 9:00am until 11:00am followed by a funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the Faith Bible Church 3139 E. Chestnut Ave. Vineland. A military burial will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, 109 NJ-50, Mays Landing.
