Helga L. GODFREY

passed away from this world on June 26, 2016 to be with our Heavenly Father in Heaven. Helga fought a short, hard battle with melanoma cancer. Helga was born to Elise and Fritz Dammert on December 14, 1935. Helga was married to Kenneth E. Godfrey "Kenny" who recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Kenny met and married Helga at Pforzheim, Germany while stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. Helga is survived by her husband, Kenny; one son, David of Brooksville; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Amber of Spring Hill; sisters, Edith Kruck of Pforzheim, Germany and Inge Bume of Anaheim, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elise and Fritz Dammert and sister, Elvira Schmull. Helga was a hardworking and industrious individual who excelled in every task she undertook. Helga trained and worked as a watchmaker until her marriage to Kenny. She worked at several base exchanges and post exchanges, both overseas and stateside. At one point, Helga was an interpreter for the U.S. Army and she volunteered teaching German to soldiers who were transferring to Germany from Fort Carson, CO. Helga retired from Target stores as a retail supervisor. Helga's family would like to thank all the wonderful people at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and all the wonderful caregivers at the Brooksville Hospice Center, especially Debbie who was not only a friend but a sister in Christ. A celebration of life will be held on July 2 at 11:00 am at Community Baptist Church, 13132 Citrus Way, Brooksville. All are welcome to attend and celebrate.
