Irving SMITH Obituary

, age 79 of Tampa died Saturday, March 26, 2016. Mr. Smith was born in Washington, D.C. and came to Tampa in 1960. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and for 30 years was an air traffic controller at Tampa International Airport. He later joined the Hillsborough County Sheriffs office where he served as a deputy for 18 years. Irving was a volunteer at Tampa General Hospital and a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Bunny, sons, Mark Smith of Tampa, Phillip Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Jason Smith of Phoenix, AZ, daughter and son-in-law, Tammy & Barry Hanerfeld of Tampa and cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah. Graveside services will be held Monday, 3:00 PM at the Jewish Community Cemetery (formerly the New Rodeph Sholom Cemetery). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to in Irving's name to Congregation Rodeph Sholom. Condolences may be expressed online at segalfuneralhome.com.
