Susperlative (and demanding) French teacher and caring man. When BCCHS had to go to half day classes in the 1960's, he allowed me to take French as a 5th independent study class. This was extra work and time for him but I valued greatly the opportunity to continue French along with my other permitted four classes. He was a kind man and dedicated educator. I have never forgotten his willingness to take on additional work so I could continue my French.

Monsieur Lama, merci beaucoup pour le français! He taught me four years of French (graduated 1967) at Bay City Central. I loved his challenging classes and all the extras. Who could forget Christmas caroling in French? Or our French club trip to Quebec? Merci and Rest In Peace to him and God´s peace and love and comfort to his family!

Dear Lama family - I'm so sorry to read of Mr. Lama's passing. I have many fond memories of French class (Central HS). I am sure our class of mostly squirrely girls probably drove him crazy. He was always so kind and focused on making sure we learned the language. May peace be with you and your family.

Monsieur Lama was an excellent teacher and a very caring man. All the French words and phrases I know he taught me back in the mid 70's. I'm always surprised how much I remember thanks to him. Merci beaucoup Monsieur Lama !
Rest in peace and sincere condolences and happy memories to your family.

It was probably Mr. Lama's last year at Wenona when a student, Ken, tried to show off by starting a conversation in French. Mr. Lama responded to Ken's sentence with a veritable paragraph, leaving the kid looking like a deer in the headlights. I hardly had a chance to know the man, but clearly he had a sense of humor. To a life well-lived!

Mr Lama was a major influence in my life. He taught me French for four years and inspired me to major In French and become a French teacher in turn. He was a brilliant man and an esteemed member of the community. My condolences to his family and especially to his wife who was a friend of my mother´s.

Monsieur Lama not only taught us the beautiful French language, he taught us life lessons too. I was so fortunate to have had him as a teacher at Bay City Central High School in the 60´s. Still use my French today. Merci Monsieur Lama.
Rest In Peace

Graduated 1967. M. Lama is the reason I became a high school French teacher. His style and discipline in the classroom inspired me to work harder once in college. He immersed his students in French culture and introduced us to French literature and news events of the time. I was so very lucky to be able to study French with M. Lama. I´ll always remember him and I´ll always be grateful. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to his entire family.
