James HITE Obituary

HITE, James McKay, 65, of Tampa, passed away August 19, 2011, after a sudden stroke. His infectious smile, ability to find humor in every situation, candid-ness and passion for life will always be remembered. He was predeceased by his parents, Alda Jean and Raymond W. Sr.; his niece, Carla Sponsler; and is survived by his wife, Susan; son, James M. Jr.; brother, Raymond W. Jr. (Leanna); sister, Barbara Branford; nieces, Tara, Becky and Debbie; grand-children, Tyler, Chase, Lacey, James III; and god-son, Joey. As the longtime owner and operator of J. Hite Exterminating Co., Jim developed lasting friendships with a multitude of customers and associates. His varied interests included fishing, music and politics, local and national. He was an avid supporter of YMCA projects and Karting Association events. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and doctors at Tampa General Hospital and their colleagues at Tampa General Foundation for their professionalism, compassion and care during this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be sent to Tampa General Hospital Foundation, FBO The Daniel DeLaVergne Gift of Life Fund, P. O. Box 1289, Tampa, FL 33601. A private family service is planned for a later date.

I became very close to Jim's wife Susan while he was a patient at Tampa General. My heart went out to his family. I wish I would have had the chance to get to know Jim because of all the wonderful stories I have heard about him. My heart goes out to Susie and her family and her adopted family.

I had the fortune of meeting Jim Hite around ten years ago through the pest control industry. I will miss Jim's quick wit and all our conversations. I was both surprised and saddened by Jim's passing. I knew Jim for many years as a product supplier for his business. Bad days at work did not last when Jim came by or called changing things to be upbeat leaving all in a great mood. Rest in Peace Jim.
