Joe Tagliarini Obituary

TAGLIARINI, Joe, 90, passed away after a long illness January 4, 2005. He was born in Ybor City June 7, 1914, and was a lifelong resident of Tampa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lillie. Joe was the proprietor of the Elite Barber Shop on Cass Street for over 40 years. He was a member of the Sons of Italy for several years. He was a familiar face at the West Tampa Coffee Shop. He was a man of few words but would often reminisce about the early days of his life in Ybor City. He enjoyed the simple things like music, dancing, golf and his vegetable garden. At the end he did it his way. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, all of Tampa, Linda Lastra, Pat Bruno and husband, Nick, and Terri Pautler and husband, Dr. Keith Pautler; grandchildren, Johnny and his wife, Jennifer, A.J. and Joseph Lastra, Allison Bruno, and Ashley, Brian and Chris Pautler; brother, Lacy Tagliarini and wife, Ely; niece, Theresa Valdez; and nephews, Peter James, and Peter and Alex Tagliarini. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Italian Club Cemetery, P.O. Box 5054, Tampa, FL 33675, or the American Cancer Society, 1001 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33629. Active pallbearers include, Nick Bruno, Dr. Keith Pautler, Johnny, A.J. and Joseph Lastra, Brian and Chris Pautler, and Lacy and Peter James Tagliarini. Honorary pallbearers include, John Lastra, Gil Granda III, Dr. Angelo Pardo, Joe Caltagirone, Joe Antinori, and Peter and Alex Tagliarini. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, January 7, 2005, at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, Fla. Entombment will follow in L'Unione Italiana Mausoleum. The family will gather to receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon at the funeral home chapel.

Linda, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have always loved hearing you talk about your parents and love that your family has. Your fathers memory will live on in those stories as you laugh and cry...and anyone who hears them will be counted among the honored to have a glimpse into this wonderful family's life.
