Johnnie Cason Obituary

Cason, Johnnie Roy

66, died with his family by his side on February 1, 2025. Johnnie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 9, 1958, the fourth child of Robert "Bob" Cason and Birdie Cason. Johnnie attended H. B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida and graduated as a proud Seminole from Florida State University in 1983. Johnnie began his professional career in Tampa at Price Waterhouse which led to several very successful experiences as a chief financial officer at Tampa based companies.

Johnnie was predeceased by his parents, his brother Daniel and sister Kathleen. He is survived by his loving partner, Denise Givens and his daughters, Jessica (Chadd) and Ali (Rodrigo) of Tampa; his brother, Mell and sister, Letitia (Glenn), as well as Denise's children, Dusten (Ross) and Devin (Kelly). He is also survived by seven wonderful grandchildren whom he adored, Cason, Olivia, Christian, Dax, Hazel, Radley and Maris.

Johnnie was known by his family and a long list of friends as "the toughest person" they ever knew. During his college years, he overcame a major bout with cancer when his medical team told him there was nothing else they could do. Using the courage, determination, and perseverance that he became known for, he willed himself to recovery and then on to a life of accomplishment that he was able to share with his family and many friends. Johnnie became a state ranked racquetball player, an excellent golfer and later, when his interests turned to fishing, became a champion fisherman and the best cast net thrower Tampa Bay had ever seen.

However, his greatest accomplishments are named Jessica and Ali, his cherished daughters.

Johnnie's family is especially grateful for his dear friends who were able to spend quality time with him and let him know what an impact he had on their lives. The family would also like to send special thanks to Unique as well as all the caregivers from Lifepath Hospice of Sun City Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 19, 2025, at 12 in the afternoon, located at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Johnnie's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org/donate).

Johnnie was one of a kind. Always there with an open heart, his beautiful smile and those eyes that could light up a room. I will miss his text messages with photos of his precious grandchildren, advice on how to care for my orchids, but mostly his friendship for over 50 years. Sending hugs to Denise, Jessica, Ali and the rest of the family. RIP my friendxoxo

I attended FSU with Johnnie and started Price Waterhouse with him. He always reminded me to enjoy life and not take things to seriously. He made us laugh and had some crazy times while we we "adulting" . We made alot of chaos during those times...working hard and partying harder. But we learned so much from Johnnie... he will be missed
