Ken KROGER Obituary

KROGER, Ken 61, of South Tampa, passed away Nov. 12, 2013. Ken spent nearly 4 decades as a dedicated architect in Tampa, was an honored graduate of the University of Florida and a community advocate of fine arts and historical preservation. He dedicated many years to serving the schools of architecture at several state universities and had a genuine passion for helping to reestablish schools in Haiti. He was a proud father and will be missed every day. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Kroger and is survived by his parents, Otto and Enid Kroger; daughter, Kendall Kroger, son, Kevin Kroger; sisters, Karen Covington (Langford) and Kris Kroger (Larry). He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Tampa Connection Leadership Program, the Southern Building Code Congress, Chairman of Ybor City Main Street Committee, City of Tampa Chairman and Board member of the Flood Board for 20 years and City of Tampa member of Unified Construction Trades Board. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at 2 pm with funeral service to follow at 3 pm, both at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa. Burial will be Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at 10 am at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4002 N. 50th Street, Tampa. Donations may be made in Kens name to University of Florida School of Architecture, Attention: Give Processions, P.O. Box 14425, Gainesville, FL 32604. Scholarship name: Kroger Memorial Scholarship. Our hearts are truly saddened by the loss of such a wonderful and loving man. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Kenny will be missed but we will find comfort in his enduring memory. A life well lived.

Kenny and I grew up together on two Air Force bases where forming life long relationships was tough, but in Kenny and his family, I found a brother, sisters and a second family.
