Leighton Shurley Obituary

SHURLEY, Leighton V. "Lee", age 20 of Lake Placid, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004 in Arcadia, Florida. He was born August 7, 1983 in Gainesville, Florida. He was a Corrections Officer with the Sate of Florida Department of Corrections. Lee was very happy in his chosen field of corrections. His highlight came the day he graduated from his Criminal Justice Courses and was certified with the Department of Corrections and looked forward to receiving his badge, which he received the day of his death. He enjoyed playing and listening to music, spending time with his family and friends, and was a talented artist. He was the beloved son of Jeanne Lee Butler of Lake Placid and Charles R. Brown, Jr., stepson of George Butler, grandson of James L. and Vonda Shurley, Charles R. and Cassie M. Brown, great grandson of Sadie Robbins Metz, nephew of Matthew and Shawn Shurley and Garnette Rednour, great nephew of Betty Robbins Oster and Geneva Robbins Marrone, brothers, David R. and Andrew M. Brown and s tepbrothers, Matthew and Charles Brown III, all of whom have at one time lived in the Lake or Sumter County Area. Services will be Saturday May 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from Scott Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
