So sorry to hear of Marks passing. Our family as well listened to Mark for several years on Sunday mornings. When we moved here from Connecticut we knew nothing of the soil and how to grow stuff. We enjoyed listening to him and learned a lot. We would go to the plant shows to speak to him and ask him questions on air. Sending our prayers to his family. We will miss listening to him. RIP Mark...

We always listen to Mark on our way home from camping at Ft.Desoto. Coming home this AM he was not on the radio and we had a bad feeling something was wrong. Then I googled Mark when we got home and saw the sad news. We will miss Mark's advice and his brightening up our Sunday mornings. RIP Mark.

I have listened to his radio show for many years; he was very informative. We also went to see him a few years ago when he did his radio show outside of his business on 66th street. When he spoke to people he made sure that they knew in layman's terms what he was trying to convey to them. He took all the time it took. He was very courteous always to his callers and listeners. Shocked to hear of his passing; Godspeed.

My deepest sympathy to Mark's family. I hope you find comfort in knowing how many people loved him because of his work for the past decades to beautify the world through gardening. I will always remember his words: "Without plants, we wouldn't be here." My own yard is beautiful because he spurred me into action to create lovely areas from the plain dirt it was before I found his show. Rest in peace, Mark, and thank you so much for all of your help.

Mark was a real asset to gardening in the bay area. With fewer ways to effectively reach the many gardeners we have here, he and his show served an important purpose.

Govan family,
I've been a fan of Mark's for many years. Over the years, we traded emails and his passion for plumeria convinced me to make the trip from Venice to his nursery in Largo where, last month, I bought 7 plumerias and again exchanged many emails. I am so sorry for your loss. Mark, and you, his family will be in my prayers. You can take comfort in the joy that he brought to so many people by sharing the gift he had with plants and through his friendly helpful attitude. God bless you all.

Our Sundays won't be the same without listening to Mark for as long as he's been on the radio. The only day I
would set my alarm to wake up and not miss him, now being retired. I am heartbroken! We learned so much about gardening from him. He was so kind and happy it was so refreshing to wake up and listen to his giggle than from everyday worries and negativity! We've all lost a wonderful friend! Even though I didn't know him personally, when I asked him a question, even on F/B , as busy a man as he was he always made time to answer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family May God comfort you all. He's with his mom now I remember he lost her not to long ago.

Mark a.k.a Padre, you are gone too soon! In 60 years you accomplished so much. You married a lovely woman & built a life together; raised five beautiful kids; started, owned & operated a successful business; shared your knowledge of horticulture weekly on radio for two decades; and, touched the hearts of countless people. I am especially grateful to you & your wife for opening up your hearts & home by including my daughter (& many others) on family getaways to to Wauchula & cruising.
You have left an indelible impression on my heart. You are one of Detroits finest! Thank you for having been a real mensch. May G-d always guard your soul, Padre, & grant you eternal peace.

I'd like to say Mark's radio show will really be missed. When listening to Mark you never had to worry about controversial topics it was a show about beauty. He would always answer people's questions and concerns about their gardens.he even went as far as talking to people off the air when his show had run out of time. People usually don't got out of their way like that these days. RIP sir you will be missed.
