Mary Ambrose Obituary
81, of Belleair Bluffs, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and came here from Pennsauken, New Jersey. She received her Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University-Camden, Camden, New Jersey. She was a founding partner with her husband of the law firm of Ambrose and Barkley, Attorneys-At-Law, LLC in Moorestown, New Jersey. Upon moving to Belleair Bluffs, Florida, she was a founding partner with her husband in the firm of East Bay Insurance and Financial Services, and subsequently in the firm of Great Florida Insurance-Downtown Largo until her retirement in 2018. In addition, she served on volunteer boards for her City of Belleair Bluffs. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Clearwater. Mary Lou was also a member and past president of Largo/Mid-Pinellas Democratic Club, The Democratic Women's Club of Upper Pinellas, Clearwater, and the Greater Pinellas Democratic Club of St. Petersburg. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph A Barkley III. Her seven children also survive her: son, Michael Dolhancryk, St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Carolyn Haley, Florence, KY; daughter, Dawn Dolan, Springfield, VA; daughter, Christina Crook, Hollywood, SC; daughter, Georgiana Wiezczecinski, Orchard Park, NY; daughter, Larisa Kure, Sacramento, CA; son, Joseph Amos Barkley IV, Mooresville, NC; and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at Church of the Ascension, 701 Orange Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756 on February 22, 2025, at 11 am.
