Michael Postek Obituary

POSTEK, Michael T., 86, of Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, October 15, 2009, at The Palms of Sebring. Mike was born in Pitts-burgh, Pa., served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a radio operator and waist gunner, and was a prisoner of war in Germany and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Miami, Fla., moving to Sebring in 1979. He was a faithful member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Caterpillar Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, D. Eileen Postek, and is survived by his loving family, which includes his son, Dr. Michael T. Postek Jr. and wife, Christine, of Rockville, Md.; sisters, Barbara Smith and Mary Norris, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and grand-children, Christopher and Michelle. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Morris Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. The family suggest memorial donations be made to St. Catherine Catholic School.
