Phyllis HERNANDEZ

HERNANDEZ, Phyllis Ann of Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Boston, MA to Matthew and Lena Perkins along with her older sister, Mildred. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Alberto and is survived by her three children and spouses, Michele (Rafael), Suzanne (Barry), and Michael (Mary); and was the very proud grandma to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Phyllis had an adventurous spirit and after high school was a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines. Alberto and Phyllis met, married in Puerto Rico, and raised their children there until 1974 when they moved to Florida. She earned a bachelor's and master's degree in Education from University of South Florida and was a teacher for 30 years. Phyllis loved ice skating as a child and later took it back up and continued to skate and compete well into her 70s, and truly loved the sport. She was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and had a huge impact on their lives. Phyllis was so caring and generous, and we will remember her determined spirit and her dedication and love for her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
