STOLEC, Richard W. "Dick" "Pop"

78, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 31, 2015, with his loving wife of 57 years, Arlyne McNamee Stolec by his side. He moved here in March of 1973, and opened his business D & D Crane Service and Marine Construction, which he operated for 33 years. Pop brought his building and marine construction knowledge to this area and had a hand in building many seawalls and structures throughout Pasco, Hernando, and surrounding counties. He was a very kind and generous man that donated a lot of time and expertise to help build many churches and community projects. His biggest donation was shown in the continuous building and upgrades of what is presently Hudson Senior High School. Pop employed and mentored many young people, treating everyone he met like family. His favorite hobby was racing. He raced as a young man and returned to it in his retired years, racing with the Florida Midget Association. In passing, he leaves behind in mourning his sister and brother, Karen and Jim Wilkinson; his children, Drew (Darla) Stolec, Sherri Modica, Tracy (Mike) Mettler, Kelly Joe Matissek, and Shannon (Pat) Mugnolo; grandchildren, Rich, Kendel, Daniel, Shawn, Mark, Emily, Brooke, Kyle, Drew Michael, Paige, Patrick, Vincent, Austin, and William; great- grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Michaela, Corinne, Joel, Kammi, and Danika; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family. A Celebration Of Life will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2 pm, at Meadow Oaks Country Club, 13125 Fairwinds Road, Hudson, FL 34669.
