RICHARD WEIDMAN Obituary

WEIDMAN, Richard, 62, of Tampa, passed away at his home Thursday, June 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mariela; daughter, Patty Weidman Broadbent; son-in-law, Jonathan Broadbent; three grandchildren, Jonaven, Jadsen and Avriana; brother, Lloyd; and sister, Peggy Fuquay. Dick was born in Bainbridge, Pa., July 22, 1948, to Helen and Charles Weidman. He came from a loving home where he learned to value family. Dick demonstrated this daily as he always placed family first in his life. Dick was loved by many and will be remembered for his smile, selfless nature, and beautiful heart. Dick was a giver; he found great joy in loving, giving, helping, and making people happy. He touched many lives with his generosity, kindness, and trademark sense of humor. Once he became a Grandfather, fondly called "Pap-Pap," he reveled in spending quality time with his young grandchildren. He said that his grandchildren were the best gift he had received. Dick was a Christian and had a strong relationship with the Lord. In his last years, he had tremendous spiritual growth and loved reading the Bible as well as going to church. Dick's favorite hobby was sports, especially football and baseball. In his earlier years, Dick served in the U.S. Army. He also worked at the National Security Agency and in banking. He spent nearly 20 years in the car business, as both a finance and sales manager. Later, he worked in the education field in both admissions and student services. Most recently, he was a student services advisor where he found intrinsic satisfaction in helping students accomplish their goals and dreams. Dick will be deeply missed by everyone - his family, friends, co-workers, and anyone who had the honor of meeting him. A private memorial service took place June 21, 2011. Contributions may be made in Dick's memory to Faith Baptist Church, Awana Youth Program, 10005 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, 34654. Dick had served as an Awana leader at church and positively impacted children.

I will miss Uncle Dick very much. He was always very sweet and caring, and of course a wonderful listener who always made you chuckle with his great sense of humor. It's hard to believe he is no longer with us and I will cherish the fond memories I have of him throughout all of my life. He always brought cheer to those around him and I hope he knows how much we all love him and how much he will missed.

I only knew Richard for maybe 10 years and as I only saw him maybe a dozen times (he was my fiance's son's father-in-law) he always seemed very friendly, amiable and reminded me of my own late father who was also named Richard. Like my mother used to say about my dad--"those who didn't get to know him lost something"'--I would say the same thing about Richard. I have one picture with him and I in it from Last year and I will cherish that. My heart goes out to Patty and her mom and to his family. Love Faye Parsons

To Dick's family, What a great loss; a husband, father, grandfather, brother & nephew. It was great to see all the family but there was a void. Dick is now with his Heavenly Father & using his humor in a great way. Dick will be sorely missed but we will all see him again one day "when God sends His Son to get His kids." (From our Pastor Ron) ....unless He calls us home sooner.
You are all loved & held in thought & gentle prayer,
A. Jan & U. Henry

DAD, I love you. Thanks for being an amazing Dad, Husband, Father-in-Law, Son, Brother, Friend, Grandfather, and simply an incredible human being. You were the best and we will deeply miss you more than words can express. We know you are in heaven right now and in a better place. We don't understand God's plan right now but we know that you would want us to have faith. You will be in our hearts and minds forever. May we continue your legacy. Love, your Daughter, Patty
