DILLINGER, Robert Henry "Bob" 72, passed away March 10,2024 at home. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay; sister, Marilyn Fulweber; brother, Bill Dillinger; nieces, Wendie Moore, Laura Moore, Frances Rodriguez, Paula Torres; nephew, Daniel Patton, Graham Moore and sweet kitty, Dilly. Bob was a graduate of Columbia University and Stetson College of Law. He was an attorney for over 40 years and was elected as Pinellas Pasco Public Defender in 1996. He served in that capacity until retirement in 2020. He boldly changed the face of the Public Defender's office, broadening it to address root causes of crime such as childhood trauma, mental illness, chronic hunger and homelessness. He was the recipient of many awards throughout his prestigious career and was humbled by each one of them. Bob also served on multiple charitable boards. He was a 20 year Juvenile Welfare Board member, alongside his friend the late State Attorney Bernie McCabe. In honor of their long-standing service, JWB created the Dillinger­McCabe leadership award presented annually to a well-established leader and champion for Pinellas County children and families. Upon the death of his beloved daughter Beth in 2006 he and Kay created the Beth Dillinger Foundation in her memory. The mission of the foundation is to feed, educate and clothe less fortunate children. Bob was an inspiration, a trailblazer and the hope for those in society who had no hope. A tribute for the Honorable Bob Dillinger will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, from 1 to 3 pm at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4951 78th Avenue N., Pinellas Park, FL 33781.
