Hard to believe that Roy's been gone a year, I think about him every time my own past comes up. He really was a joy to know and work with and will always be missed.

I know that you are in the hands of the Lord, Roy. However, words cannot express the loss that I feel.

Mr. Aerts was my middle school band director at Meadowlawn Middle school(78-80). His encouragement and dedication is one of the driving forces that kept me in music through high school. I am so appreciative of that - music brought so many incredible people into my life. The appreciation for music was such a gift Mr. Aerts passed on to me.
My condolences to his loved ones and many friends.

Mr. Aerts was one of my music teachers in the late 70s, he helped me rise to the Band of Gold from the 9th grade band within my first of Largo High School, it would have not been possible without him. A strange feeling came over my body when I read about his passing. It made me think, has it really been that long ago? Yes, it has. We really don't think about the people in the past who shaped our lives to get where we are today until they pass. You may be gone, but your memory will live within those of us who knew you until the last of us has come to join you. Heaven is a better place with you, but the world is not without you. You will be missed. Now rest in peace, you've earned it.

I'm so sad to hear of Roy's passing. I worked with Roy in the Fine Arts Department at Largo in the mid 70's while he was associate Band Director. I found him to be a fine teacher, a good friend, and dedicated musician! You will be missed Roy

As a student of his at Largo High School in the late 70s I remember his open door policy. There was a big blue chair n his office for kids to sit in when we needed a listening ear.

An encouraging teacher and a mentor to many of us in the Blue Band. Thanks for being there when I needed you.
