Tom was a bright spot back when I covered the court system for the Evening Independent so many, many years ago. I also loved working with his wonderful wife later when I began selling homes as a real estate agent. I am so very, very sorry to hear this. I will remember him forever as a hard working and very talented and careful young lawyer.

Judge McCoun was a wonderful judge and no doubt a wonderful human being. He was fair, believed in the judicial system working properly, and treated lawyers and litigants alike with great respect. It was an honor to be in his courtroom. He was one of the rare judges I have had the pleasure of encountering that took his duties seriously, remained neutral, was always respectful, and followed the law. I am so proud to have been in his courtroom. We need more judges and more human beings like Judge McCoun. I am sad that his life has been cut short, but I will remember him fondly, and his memory will be a yardstick I use to measure how I conduct myself with others.
