To my father, who always thought of others before himself.

Dad, I will always love you and try to lead the rest of my life in the non-selfish way that you did. You are truly my hero and myinspiration. You will always be with me.

Love,

Marty

Dear Linda, Mrs. Lombardo and Family:

I was very saddened to hear of Vince's passing. I have wonderful memories of his quick smile despite all his hard work at the shoe store. Not to mention the hospitality I always felt visiting the house in Des Plaines. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Dear Cousin Lydia and Family,

May you take some comfort in that Cousin Vince had a life well lived. He completed his earthly journey just when we are reminded of the Resurrection to come. May memories be a part of what helps sustain you as life continues. I think of the impish Astaire dancing with his lovely wife in his arms 20 years ago at our wedding, the man who knew more about opera than baseball – his father Mike was responsible, the year he bought a tuxedo and chuckled as he said it was more economical than renting given the functions coming up, and the countless freely reshod nuns because service can take many forms. We wish we were with you in person to share the hugs, the tears, the memories, but you are in our hearts and minds.

Dearest Lydia and family,

I was deeply saddened yesterday when I learned about Vince's passing. He has always been the quiet gentleman of the family.

"Mike's Vince" was the eldest of the many cousins. It doesn't seem so long ago that he was the first to become an adult; to be the next generation taking over.

He led our little pack into adulthood, the military, family life, business and retirement.

"Mike's Vince" was the male cousin's standard bearer. Behind him marched "Doc's Vince" "Joe's Vince" then the oddly-named David. We all couldn't have been more different yet when we got together at some event or other, we felt the bond.

I mourn the loss of my gentle cousin and reflect that once again he is blazing the trail for our generation.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To Mrs. Lombardo, Linda and all of the Lomvardo Family. Barbara and I are truely sad to hear of your loss. Vince was always ready to welcome us into your home and just sit and talk to you another member of the family. His loss is truly great and I wish our words could do more to ease your pain. God Bless all of you and the grandchildren.
