Rev. James W. Fahey

Rev. James W. Fahey, retired Pastor St Theresa of the Child Church, Attleboro and Commander USN, Chaplain Corps, (ret) died in Sturdy Memorial Hospital Attleboro on Monday morning, December 5. 2016. Fr. Fahey was born in Taunton son of the late James and G. Irene (Walton) Fahey. He was educated in St Marys Grammar School, Columbian Seminary in NY, St Marys Seminary in KY and St Marys Seminary in Baltimore. Fr. Fahey was ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Fall River by His Excellency Rev. James L. Connolly on May 1, 1970. He served in Our Lady of the Assumption, Osterville and Immaculate Conception in North Easton prior to entering the U S Navy. Fr. Fahey served as United States Navy Chaplain from July of 1977 to July of 1997. He was primarily assigned to the United States Marine Corp. When he retired as a Commander, he was assigned to the Marine Base Camp Pendelton, CA. He is survived by his sister Maureen Sands and her husband Michael of Raynham and his niece Sarah Travers and her husband Jeffery of Raynham and his grandniece and grandnephew Madalyn and Brayden Travers of Raynham. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, (route 138 south) Taunton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Dec. 9, 2016 in St Theresas Church, 18 Baltic Street, South Attleboro at 11 AM with full military honors rendered at the conclusion of the Mass. Cremation to follow the Mass. Interment services will be held in St Joseph Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Fr.
