David Long Obituary

David Long, 64, passed away due to severe heart and aorta complications.

David grew up in Fulton, NY and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and went to the famed "Parris Island" in SC for Boot Camp. He was reassigned to MCAS Cherry Point and was a member of VMA 231- HarrieJump Jet Squadron, and later, to 9th Motor Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. Within 3 years, David quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant, and had received the Navy Achievement Medal. David reenlisted for additional 3 years and was stationed at AFEES Philadelphia, located in the Federal Building in Center City, Philadelphia. After 6 years of active duty in the USMC, David moved to CA where he graduated from CSU Fresno with his BS in Business. He began working for Nationwide Insurance in Marina del Rey in 1990.

In 1991, David moved to Manhattan Beach (just 3 blocks from the Pier) and truly felt this little town was "Paradise" and lived here for twelve years until 2003 when he got married and moved to Fresno to be closer to his Mom (Grandma Lillian).

David felt truly blessed to have three children Nicholas, Vincent and Faith and his life was "centered" around each of them whom he had loved with all his heart and soul.

After David was divorced he moved back to Manhattan Beach and he had thoroughly enjoyed the past 5 years living only 100 feet from the Strand/sand. He was fun to be around and quickly developed friendships and even had the opportunity to "fall in love again" a couple years ago to an amazing and intelligent woman who is also a "MB local" (Aurelia) and they shared a lot of awesome times together.

For the past 20 years, David worked with a number of Plaintiff's Law Firms, representing severely injured persons with TBI and spinal injuries. David was a highly skilled Negotiator and settled many multi-million dollar cases and had also worked at two of the largest/Prestigious Law Firms in Beverly Hills and LA.

David enjoyed sailing his boat to Catalina, playing golf, weight lifting, cycling, playing tennis, daily walks on the Strand, BBQ's, sunset dinners on the beach and dancing on the beach…especially during the many ocean-side concerts at The Terranea Resort with his special friend (Deb) under the stars in Palos Verdes ;).

However, what David enjoyed and had LOVED the most was his relationship that he shared with the Lord.
David had a "personal relationship" with our Savior Jesus Christ and for many months when his heart began to fail, he had been looking forward to go ing to his "eternal home" in Heaven which The Bible describes as even MORE beautifulthan Manhattan Beach. In Luke 23:43, Jesus told the thief on the cross that: "Today, you will be with me in Paradise [Heaven]."

David had requested to have a small funeral in Fresno where his children reside and where his "best friend" Pastor Joe Pettit lives (in Sanger, CA) and has his awesome"Quail Lake Community Church" (where many of Dave's friends attend).

David is survived by his 3 children; 3 sisters, Patricia Meaker, Mary Staynings and Susan Aussicker; his brother Ken Long and his nieces and nephews: Andrew, Brandon,Katie, Jordan, Jennifer, Matthew, Shania and Abby, whom he loves all dearly.

Google "John 3:16"…and believe….until we meet again…may God bless youall!......Always, David
