Jake Cleland Obituary
Jake was born February 9th, 1993, and he was a lifelong resident of Manhattan Beach. Jake attended Mira Costa High School and furthered his education at Chapman University.
As the son of a real estate developer, Jake acquired an understanding and passion for real estate from an early age. He became a proud partner in the family business , DC Construction & Development, INC
Jake was a key asset behind the design of each project and provided his professional expertise as a licensed Realtor. Taking pride in producing the finest quality homes from start to finish, he knew the home better than anyone.
Outside of work Jake's greatest passion was skiing. From a young age he would love to spend his winters up in Mammoth Mountain with friends and family. As he grew older his passion continued and his love for skiing increased, as did his drive to visit new mountains to challenge his abilities. Jake didn't stop there. In the summertime you could find Jake near any body of water. Surfing, swimming, or playing water polo. One of his favorite places to visit was San Elijo State Beach for surf camping trips. Here he created incredible memories with friends and family.
Jake is remembered by his friends and family as a standup guy. He would go to the end of the universe for anyone he was close to. If you were lucky enough to be one of those people you know the kind of things he'd do for you. Not only was he a standup guy but Jake was a high achiever. Once Jake accomplished one of his goals he was already looking toward the next one. These goals always became higher and higher and motivated him to be a better person.
Jake was preceded in death by his twin sister Jamie Cleland. He is survived by his mother Robin Cleland, father Dennis Cleland, younger brother Jared Cleland, and many friends and family members. There will be a paddle out in his memory, taking place in Manhattan Beach at 26th Street on October 12th at 9:00am. In lieu of flowers donations in his name to Clee's Cause c/o Fight to End Epilepsy.

Jake, agradezco a Dios la oportunidad tan grande que me dio de conocerte. Sólo fueron unos minutos y me robaste el corazón con esa hermosa sonrisa y con esa mirada tan honesta y confiable, llena de luz. Un hermoso ser humano lleno de bondad y de sueños. Recuerdo cada palabra de la conversación. Ojalá hubiéramos podido hacer más por ti, estar ahí cuando te sentías mal y poder ayudarte a sentirte mejor, ojalá estuvieras aquí. Gracias por estar al pendiente de mi hija July, gracias por toda la ayuda que le brindaste, por tu cariño y por devolverle la fe en el amor, aunque, desafortunadamente tuviste que irte muy pronto. Siempre estarás en nuestros corazones, te recordamos con mucho cariño. Tu familia está en nuestras oraciones.
