Charles DeBisschop Obituary

Charles DeBisschop, Sr., 82 of Jupiter, died Thursday, Aug. 5, at Palm Beach Gardens Hospice Unit. Born in Waterbury, Conn., he was a resident of Jupiter for 37 years, moving from Southington, Conn. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney for ten years. He attended a two-room school house, (East Mt. Elementary) and Leavenworth High School in Waterbury, Conn. He was a member of the football team and graduated in 1945. He joined the U.S. Navy and served until honorably discharged. He worked several years for the Lea Mfg. in Waterbury and was transferred to Detroit, Mich. to open a branch for Lea Mfg. He was recalled into the Navy to serve during the Korean Conflict for two years of active duty after which he receive another honorable discharge. He then attended the University of Connecticut, graduating with honors in 1959. He was employed by Stanley Works in New Britain and later by the Charles Parker Co. in Meriden. The family moved to Florida in 1973 where he worked for the HDW and Cleary Brothers in Juno Beach until 1980. He was then employed by Pratt & Whitney until his retirement in 1990. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Priscilla DeBisschop; his children, Charles, Jr., Jody and Brian; four grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Dorothy, brothers-in-laws Robert and William. At his requests there will be no services. Memorial donation in his name would be appreciated to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or to a "no kill" animal shelter of your choice. Arrangements were by Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home of Jupiter.
