Charles Lavin Obituary
CHARLES H. LAVIN Charles H. Lavin, 67, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away December 28, 2010 at his home. Born in Miami, FL he had been a resident of Vero Beach for 41 years coming from Tavares, Florida. Active in the Banking Community in Vero Beach for more than 30 years, he was the founding president of Indian River National Bank. He was a Veteran serving in the United State Army. Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer (John) L. Ogonoski of Vero Beach, Sonia (Jeff) J. Lavin of Jacksonville, FL, & Melissa (Bjorn) K. Boman of Vero Beach; one brother, John (Pat) Lavin of Buffalo, NY; his companion, Ann Cappelen of Vero Beach; & five grandchildren, Devron, Marcus, Abigail, Ramey, & Reagan. He was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Shirley F. Lavin, who passed in 1998. Family & Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of His Life on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 5:30PM at The Plaza, 884 17th Street, Vero Beach (parking available at Strunk Funeral Home). Just got word-- sincere sympathy for your loss.
Your mom and I were in the same Mt. Dora High School class (56 students). Anne Hamlin-now-Bolt taught in the classroom next to my mom. At MDHS Bee was such a good student and athlete. A natural leader and a good influence on many. Mount Dora friends are saddened by his loss.

As another high school friend of Charles (Bee), I am saddened by our loss. He was an extraordianry athlete, but at all times expressed composure, confidence and a true balance in life. Given those traits it is no surprised he excelled in the banking business. However, his family should also know there was an early mischievousness to Bee. Among a few, he is credited as the mastermind and engineer of the greatest high school "prank" in the history of the Golden Triangle!

I'm sure his new friends wonder why his high school friends don't call him Charles. That's because the wonderful person we all knew and loved was known as "Bee" back then. This close-knit group of people are all saddened by his loss.

Bee was one of Mt. Dora High School's
finest -- good athlete (our basketball team went to state his senior year), good student and leader, good friend and all round nice guy. I'm so glad I got to visit with him a few years ago. I know that I speak for the other members of the Mt. Dora High School Class of 1961 when I say our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
